Born in the western suburbs of Victoria, Kelly has lived in more than 40 different homes across 4 states of Australia.
An expressionistic outlet, without the need for verbalizing, was what drew Kelly to art and craft in her formative years. Poetry and writing dominated her teens where she mindfully worked on building her language skills and vocabulary. Kelly worked as a palliative care nurse for nearly a decade but had to leave because of chronic pain, mental health issues, and a rare childhood blood disorder. This left her bursting at the seams for a robust expressive outlet, but no idea where to start.
Turning back to her love of creativity, she applied to complete a TAFE art certificate. She was told her work was naïve and underdeveloped, but raw and heartfelt. Kelly identified with this description and continues to develop her style.
